We are Austin and Hadhinah, an American and a Malaysian who met in the USA, built a life there, and then decided to blow it up in the best possible way.
In August 2025, we bought Malua, which is a beautiful 26-foot Folkboat with more character than a storage space. Four months later, we packed up our lives in the USA and moved temporarily to Malaysia so Austin can meet Hadhinah’s family for the first time, and then to Australia to reunite with Malua. Gary the cat in tow too. No regrets.
Malua has been in Pittwater, Australia for 8 years. Now we’re about ready to sail Malua to her new home, Malaysia. This blog is where we document most of our sailing adventure. The slow, deliberate, slightly chaotic project of living on purpose.
